In 2024, Finland has once again topped the charts as the happiest country in the world for the seventh consecutive year. But the secret to happiness in the land of the Suomi is not something to be jealously guarded. On the contrary.
Finland is eager to share the tricks of mastering the art of happiness, Finnish style, helping everyone rediscover their inner Finn. But how? Through the Helsinki Happiness Hacks course, offered by the tourism agency Visit Finland.
How the course is structured
First off, registration for the masterclass is completely free and promises an unforgettable experience in the capital, Helsinki. Selected participants will spend 5 days in June in the metropolis, accompanied by perfect Happiness Hackers.
Happiness Hackers are Helsinki residents ready to guide participants through the Finnish way of life. The agenda includes relaxing moments dedicated to sauna culture, art, architecture, nature trips, bike rides, and good food.
The goal is to find happiness in the little things, in everyday life, and, why not, inspire others to do the same.
How to apply
Applying for the Masterclass of Happiness is extremely simple. There are only 2 steps that separate aspiring happiness apprentices from Finland. Applicants are required to record a video in English of varying length.
Candidates must share their secret to happiness and explain why they should be chosen for the summer stay in Helsinki. The video should be shared on Instagram or TikTok with the hashtag #HelsinkiHappinessHacks, tagging @ourfinland on Instagram and @visitfinland.com on TikTok.
Then, a form must be filled out to be contacted. There’s time until April 4th to submit your application. Anyone who is 18 years old or older can apply, alone, with friends, or with a partner. The masterclass will be held from June 10th to 14th.
Participants are asked to arrive in Helsinki one day in advance, therefore on June 9th. Travel and accommodation expenses are covered by Visit Finland. All that’s left is to apply. You could be the next participant.
