Samsung earphones explosion in Turkey: woman suffers permanent hearing loss

In Turkey, a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds FE earphones exploded, causing permanent hearing damage to the woman who was wearing them

Recently, in Turkey, an importantly serious incident took place where a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds FE exploded in a woman’s ear while she had them on, leaving her with permanent damage to her hearing. The incident once again brings into question the safety of wearable electronic devices after worries concerning several products by Samsung-most notably the Galaxy Note 7, which exploded and was recalled back in 2016.

She is said to have been using the earbuds lent by her boyfriend when the incident occurred-when one of them exploded and she irreversibly lost her hearing.

Immediately after the incident, the victim sought an explanation of what had happened from a Samsung service center where staff were shocked by the gravity of the situation. However, the company downplayed the incident, saying the earbuds had not exploded but only deformed, offering to replace them with a new pair as the sole solution.

Lack of proper investigation by Samsung raises concerns

She felt that the response by Samsung was inadequate and is now considering filing a case. She shared her experience on an online forum, which raised concerns among the owners of the Galaxy Buds FE about the product’s safety. The incident received criticism because of the slack investigation that Samsung has engaged in, leaving users in doubt if they, too, could experience such incidents.

This case gives further reason for rigid control in the manufacturing of technology products, especially in consideration that this is not a new issue related to Samsung. Consumer trust could be lost in the brand if Samsung does not do enough to ensure safety in their products.

The matter is not only a legal issue but a wake-up call for the whole industry manufacturing wireless earbuds. Generally, users of Bluetooth devices have to be informed that with the use of these gadgets, especially in the time when technology develops so fast, quality controls cannot keep up with the innovations. The urgent industry action that has to be taken now is the call for more stringent safety standards in order not to have any more injuries and harm to the health of users.
