A cat managed to accomplish an impossible feat. Having disappeared in the woods, he found his way home by traveling almost 1500 km. A journey that lasted almost two months, which brought him to his destination. The microchip, once again, made it possible to trace his family

It sounds like the stuff of fable, but it isn’t. It’s the story of an amazing two-year-old Siamese cat named Rayne Beau, whose fascination with long journeys back to his family has left most people speechless. Many months later and over thousands of miles in travel, Rayne Beau somehow managed to find his way home.
A family outing turned into a nightmare
It all started on a quiet summer trip to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. For this trip, the family took Rayne Beau along but turned exciting as the scared cat ran into the woods.
The family searched in bear spray-carrying treks through different areas of the park with the favorite treats and favorite toys of the cat. Days passed by without success despite such relentless efforts.
The grand terrain of Yellowstone National Park made any attempt to find Rayne Beau a hopeless feat, and there was absolutely no telling whether the cat was dead or alive. The odds were against them, but the family refused to give up hope-even when their pass to get into the park expired four days after the disappearance of the cat.
Heartbroken, Rayne Beau’s owners decided to head back home to California. Driving through Nevada, the cat’s owner saw a double rainbow and couldn’t help but feel that it was a sign.
The cat’s name, Rayne Beau, is pronounced just like “rainbow“. Seeing that double arc of colors gave her strength and comfort-somehow, almost, it felt like Rayne Beau was sending a message to say she’d be alright.
Signs or not, something unbelievable happened two months later. This family did receive a call from Roseville, California, telling them that their cat had been found on the street and taken to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Rayne Beau was very much alive and had marvelously made his way to California on his own four legs. The cat travelled nearly 930 miles, the distance between Roseville and Yellowstone. How Rayne Beau survived and what he ate during those months is anybody’s guess.
The family discovered a kindly woman had been witnessing the tattered cat wandering the streets. She fed Rayne Beau for several days before capturing it simply to protect the cat from the dangers of the roads.
Skeptical that it could actually be their cat, Rayne Beau’s owners nevertheless drove to Roseville to reclaim it. When they were finally reunited, Rayne Beau had some scratches and had lost a little weight, but the cat was safe.
So, I never told the story on Facebook because it was too traumatic, but now we’re ready to tell the story of losing our…

The fact that this amazing journey was possible would be truly attributed to not only Rayne Beau’s extraordinary sense of direction but also to the microchip implanted into the cat. Many people tend to underestimate just how important it is for them to have their dogs and cats microchipped. Stories like these just go to prove just how important, how very vital this little device can be in reuniting families with their lost pets.
