Police rescue rottweiler from freezing conditions at illegal breeding site

In a rescue operation, the canine unit of the Benidorm Local Police saved a dying Rottweiler, found in a hypothermic condition in an illegal breeding farm. The rapid and delicate intervention of the officers made it possible to gain the animal's trust, providing it with first aid

The Local Police of Benidorm, Spain saved a female Rottweiler from an illegal breeding den in the open countryside where hypothermic death was a danger. The quick intervention and kind treatment given by the K9 unit unveiled the shocking, routine problem: the grim and inhumane conditions many animals are kept in in these illegal breeding operations, many times without proper care.

A harrowing scene

When the officers arrived at the breeding site, they were met with a shocking scene awaiting them. An obviously exhausted Rottweiler was left outside in the cold and damp, with only partial shelter in which her body could not retain the heat to sustain her life. The K9 unit officers immediately took action-ones who were not only schooled for patrolling but also for saving distressed animals.

In that case, the dog viewed the officer as a prospect of fear and resignation. Allowing her to get used to his presence at her own pace, he gained the animal’s trust by moving slowly and speaking softly. After a few moments, the Rottweiler relaxed enough to let him tie a leash around her neck and then walk her to safety.

This had to be done in a very patient and gentle manner to avoid putting more stress on the animal, so that she could safely be transported to a secure location for desperately needed medical attention.

The courage to save Lives and the cruelty that endangers them

This incident is an excellent example of two sides of human nature. On one side, there are the unconscionable animals who use animals as nothing more than commodities to increase their bottom line, unconcerned with taking an animal’s life or causing pain and suffering. On the other side are those who are dedicated to saving the helpless creatures with compassion and dedication.

The Rottweiler, which had been at the point of hypothermia-induced death due to abandonment, now has a second lease on life because of the intervention of the K9 unit.
