Pilar Vergés warned about the consequences of our distancing from nature and the Earth, as well as reflecting on the illusion of a technology that surrounds us with false friends

Pilar Vergés is a caretaker of the hermitage on San Miquel Mountain and keeper of ancient lineages of medicine and sacred femininity. She offered a profound and urgent message for the state of our world and our relationship with it.
That with which Vergés had to say in her message was against a system which, according to her thinking, is little by little making us sick, taking us further away from nature and from our bonding with Earth. Words of warning.
We’re living in a society so out of balance with the essential building blocks: food, water, and even our relatedness to nature. We absolutely have no idea anymore where foods come from; we have absolutely no concept about the process and journey of water to reach into our home and, for many of us-particularly our young people-sleeping outside under star-filled skies. It is alienating us from nature; it disorients us and makes our relationship with the planet ever more fragile and superficial.
The technology that deceives us
Vergés also referred to another relevant issue of our times: the invasive role of technology. She says:
There’s also the issue of technology. Because there’s a lot of fiction coming in and at the moment, reality and what’s not reality is very confusing.
We are living in a world where the dividing line between reality and virtual is increasingly getting blurred. We are staring at screens promising endless connections and friendships, but it all adds up to an illusion. She highlights the paradox of digital connection, which often leaves a void in real relationships:
You look at a screen, you have a million friends, if you turn the screen, there’s no one there.
Her reflection culminates in a clear and powerful call to action:
The only thing to do is go back. Back to the land.
Returning to earth here means returning to our roots, reconnecting with nature, and recovering a lost balance. Pilar Vergés invites us not to forget our planet, our home, and to recover our humanity through conscious returning to the simplicity and authenticity of life.
