Naples triumphs in the 100 Best Food Cities 2025 ranking of TasteAtlas. Italy dominates with six cities in the Top 10. Let's discover the complete list and the dishes that have conquered the world.

Ranking the 100 Best Food Cities 2025 according to 477,287 user reviews and ratings of 15,478 dishes in 17,073 cities, TasteAtlas’ ranking of the world’s best culinary destinations is nothing short of phenomenal. And the results are no less: the top three spots are all taken by Italian cities, reconfirming the country’s status as a food superpower. Naples is the winner, with Milan and Bologna coming in second and third, respectively.
Naples is the culinary capital of the world
There was no contest. Naples topped the Best Food Cities 2025 list with a perfect score of 5 out of 5. Why? Easy. The southern city is the birthplace of some of the world’s most iconic dishes: Margherita pizza, zeppole, gnocchi alla sorrentina, spaghetti alle vongole, and sfogliatella. A full-on flavor explosion that’s conquered the world’s taste buds and earned Naples the well-deserved title of food capital of the world.
Milan and Bologna complete all-italian podium
In second place is Milan with a score of 4.96 out of 5. Renowned for its risotto alla milanese, breaded veal cutlet (cotoletta), cassoeula, and the globally popular panettone, Milan combines the elegance of Michelin-starred restaurants with the coziness of traditional taverns. It’s a city where gastronomic tradition is accompanied by avant-garde innovation.
Bologna follows with a 4.94 score. A gastronome’s paradise, it is the hometown of tagliatelle al ragù, tortellini in broth, lasagna, cotoletta alla bolognese, and crescentina. Every dish is a testament to rich culinary tradition.
Italy dominates the top 10
Beyond the podium, Italy continues its gastronomic supremacy with three other cities in the top 10:
Florence (4th place, 4.83), famous for its Florentine steak and ribollita
Rome (6th place, 4.79), home to pasta legends like carbonara, cacio e pepe, and gricia—not to mention a killer tiramisu
Turin (9th place, 4.76), the name synonymous with agnolotti, vitello tonnato, and gianduiotto
That’s six out of ten top spots—an unbeaten record.
The rest of the world holds firm
Despite Italy’s sweep, other gastronomic powerhouses cracked the top 10:
Mumbai (5th, 4.81), where street food reigns supreme
Paris (7th, 4.78), the capital of bistro culture and haute patisserie
Vienna (8th, 4.77), famous for its intense central European flavors
Osaka (10th, 4.74), a symbol of Japan’s refined and exact cuisine
