Italian is the world’s most romantic language, says international survey

According to research, Italian is the most attractive, romantic, passionate and sexy language in the world with 89% of preferences

A worldwide survey has confirmed Italian is the most attractive language in the world, edging French for the very first time, a language formerly known as the “language of love.” Commissioned by language platform Babbel and conducted by market research agency OnePoll, the survey of 6,000 individuals took place in a series of nations including Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, and America.

According to the results, 89% of the respondents voted for Italian as the sexiest, most passionate, and most romantic language. It is therefore the most prized language in love, ahead of French, which is in second place at 34% of votes for romanticism, against 33% for Italian.

What is so captivating about Italian is its musicality: the fluctuating intonation and melodic pronunciation, together with phonetic features like the rolled “r,” make it incredibly pleasant to hear. The harmonious structure of words and the fluid rhythm of the language also contribute to its irresistible allure.

The international charm of italian

The study also looked at how other countries perceive Italians. In particular, the French themselves conceded the sexy, romantic, and passionate nature of Italian, with 85% casting their votes for it as the sexiest, most romantic, and most passionate language ahead of their own, which was chosen by 61% of the French.

But the real fans of the Italian language are the British: 98% of the United Kingdom respondents chose Italian as the most seductive language for love. Then come the Spanish and Americans, with 96% of the votes.

Italian is also number one when it comes to seduction. Approximately 30% of the respondents find it the most sensual language, followed by Latin American Spanish in third place.

How other people perceive other languages

In addition to pronouncing Italian, the research found other interesting findings about the most spoken languages around the world. British English was described as the politest and American English as the coolest. Latin American Spanish was also described as being musical and lively and therefore the funniest to speak. German, on the other hand, was deemed to be the most direct and logical language.

Being multi-lingual seems to be a highly valued asset in a relationship. The study suggests that 71% of the interviewees believe that foreign languages render one more attractive, second only to good humor and looks. In short, if love is Italian, fluency in learning or speaking it can be a true plus when playing the seduction game!
