Imagine recharging your smartphone just by setting it on a table

Solar Top Charge, the innovative photovoltaic system for public places, which allows you to recharge electronic devices using solar energy

Imagine being able to recharge your smartphone simply by placing it on a table at a bar or restaurant. Does it sound like science fiction? Not anymore, thanks to the innovative Solar Top Charge technology. This system, conceived by French engineer Jérôme Dufaur-Dessus, integrates small solar panels into the surfaces of tables at eateries, turning ordinary furniture into bona fide eco-friendly charging stations.

These solar modules capture sunlight and convert it into electricity, which can be used to charge smartphones, Bluetooth headphones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices. Despite their small size, the solar panels of the Solar Top Charge are designed to produce enough energy even in indoor environments not directly exposed to sunlight. This feature makes the system extremely versatile and suitable for a wide range of situations.

A simple and practical solution

The Solar Top Charge represents an innovative and sustainable solution, where the demand for convenience and functionality is constantly growing. Tables equipped with this system not only offer an additional service to customers, allowing them to recharge their electronic devices while they enjoy their leisure time, but also contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as explained by Dufaur-Dessus:

“Our innovation responds to a growing need in the public venue sector, where customers are constantly looking for practical ways to recharge their electronic devices while enjoying their experience.”

To support the launch of the Solar Top Charge, Dufaur-Dessus and his team have started a crowdfunding campaign. The inventor is open to commercial proposals that could facilitate the spread of the Solar Top Charge in the market. Additionally, he is considering the possibility of licensing the system to third parties for commercial use. This innovation has already received significant accolades, including a gold medal and the City of Paris award at the Concours Lépine International Paris 2024.
